John Markley
John Markley is a writer from Illinois. After graduating from college, he started working for a local newspaper, the Southwest News-Herald, covering local news. He has also done some freelance writing.
A lifelong science fiction and fantasy fan, he writes book reviews for the print and web editions of the Sacramento Book Review, the popular science fiction/fantasy site Book Spot Central, and pop culture site Crucial Taunt. He has conducted interviews with popular authors Tobias Buckell and Neal Asher. In addition, he writes at his blog, Vast and Cool and Unsympathetic, which has book reviews and commentary on various subjects in the science fiction field. He also writes the video game/humor blog Pointless Side Quest.
He has written on politics for over a decade, starting with his high school paper. He has since written for a number of political sites including Antiwar.com, Lewrockwell.com, Strike the Root, and The Libertarian Enterprise. He maintains his own blog on political and social issues, The Superfluous Man.
He has also done some writing on the subject of Asperger's Syndrome, and contributed a chapter in the recently published Autism and Developmental Disabilities: Current Practices and Issues, volume 18 in the “Advances in Special Education” series from Emerald Publishing Group Limited.
